OWN IT, the data-driven coaching system that transforms biometric data into performance, today announced a partnership with the Dallas Stars Elite Hockey Club, one of the top amateur hockey organizations in the country.
Using wearable biometric data gathering tools such as the WHOOP strap, Oura ring, and Apple Watch, the OWN IT Coaching System empowers athletes with personalized habit coaching for recovery, readiness, and sleep optimization to deliver personalized physiological feedback and actionable analytics.
“We’re thrilled to work with the excellent Dallas Stars Elite Hockey program to offer the OWN IT Coaching to all of the coaches and athletes, ” said Jason Mejeur, CEO of OWN IT. “By providing student-athletes access to their real-time biometrics alongside personalized recommendations, our platform will help athletes make meaningful lifelong changes in their recovery, sleep quality, and overall health.”
OWN IT System includes an athlete-facing app and coach consulting services. Teams can now make purposeful actions grounded in data provided by WHOOP with 24/7 biometric insights across key health metrics like heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate, sleep-staging, and respiratory rate.
“Offering the OWN IT Coaching system, powered by WHOOP, will be a tremendous developmental resource available to our players to help them unlock their full potential .” said Eric Silverman, Director of Hockey Operations for DSEHC. “We are excited to work with OWN IT and look forward to seeing the results on and off the ice”
The Dallas Stars Elite Hockey Club joins other top-tier programs like Chicago’s Windy City Storm and the LA Junior Kings in harnessing biometric data for positive habit modification and great success.
In a pilot program conducted by Windy City’s former Strength and Conditioning Coach, Joe Meloni (who is now the High Performance Coach at the USA Hockey National Team Development Program) used the OWN IT Coaching System and WHOOP to help the team experience average recovery improvement of more than 22 percent, in addition to increases in sleep, sleep efficiency, HRV, and an average decrease in resting heart rate of 9 percent. These recovery improvements led to a 16 percent increase in speed.
